Gastón has been involved in the design of cover systems for landfills and tailings facilities, evaluation of dams performance, and design of retaining structures, anchor systems and foundations for infrastructure projects. He has provided construction oversight, design and execution of geotechnical field investigations, and surveillance monitoring systems.
He has advanced knowledge in the application of numerical model for flow in unsaturated soil and soil-structure interaction.
Gastón holds a PhD in geotechnical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a degree in civil engineering from the University of Buenos Aires. He is a certified professional engineer through the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists (BPELSG). Gastón has conducted research funded by National Science Foundation (NSF) and has co-authored publications on experimental methods for soil testing, and geotechnical design.
