This co-presentation discusses Vale's Green Energy Vehicle Program.
There are many benefits provided through the introduction of electric vehicles into an underground mining fleet; however, the approaches in which organizations manage the implementation during movement from traditional diesel to electric vehicles may not be apparent. Replacing the diesel equipment that some mines have relied on for generations with an alternative can be difficult – not only will technical barriers need to be overcome but the “softer” issues must also be addressed. In this presentation, representatives from Vale Base Metals and SRK Consulting will provide some real-world examples of challenges faced by active mines and projects in their journey to achieving the Green Mine. Change management techniques concerning people, processes, and systems will be highlighted with the aim of drawing attention to an aspect of technology integration that must not be overlooked.
This presentation has been further discussed by Engineering and Mining Journal, Jan 2021.
