The evolution of sedimentary basins is largely controlled by the crustal response to tectonism and depends on crust strength, composition, and fabric. Knowing the basement properties of a sedimentary basin enables its behaviour during deformation to be predicted; as the basement contracts or expands due to tectonic stress, so sedimentation patterns are affected.
After our experts have calibrated SEEBASETM to a particular area’s geology, the software uses gravity and magnetic data to generate a predictive structural model based on basement structure and composition. This model can predict basement-involved and detached structures, hydrothermal and basin fluid migration pathways, source distribution, reservoir and seal quality, deposition sites, and post-deposition fault modifications.
By combining a comprehensive structural model with seismic and non-seismic geophysical interpretations, we ensure that all pertinent geophysical and geological data is taken into consideration. The process we use is efficient and cost-effective at any scale.
