Mine designs are based on an understanding of rock mass strength and the orientation, continuity, and strength properties of discontinuities within a rock mass. These factors influence the stope sizes and slope angles used for mining excavations. Structural geology describes and helps predict continuity of all rock discontinuities, such as joints, veins, and fault zones.
Our experts understand the nature of geological structures and how to record them during mapping or drill core logging to maximize their benefit as input parameters into geotechnical analyses and designs. We customize structural interpretations with integrated structural property descriptions and detailed 3D structural models. These interpretations form a solid foundation for engineering design and are used to define the controls on geotechnical domains and to understand influences on mining-induced seismicity.
