Recent experience has focused on mining projects, both in design, construction and operation phases of tailings deposits and processing facilities. Previous experience includes forensic engineering, slope stability, erosion control, geotechnical characterization of complex soils, flooding hazards and foundation design.
Diego holds MSc and PhD titles from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a professor at Eafit University in Medellín (Colombia).
He has participated in PFS/FS studies, construction specifications and estimates (PS&E), and the preparation of bid-ready construction drawing packages, as well as construction quality control assurance for dry stack projects in Colombia.
He leads design, construction and operation teams for dry-stack filtered tailings facilities and has served as Engineer of Record for several projects.
His well-rounded background enables him to lead a team in providing practical solutions to both complex and day-to-day issues mine waste facility engineering, project planning and delivery, and construction and operations support.
