As a civil engineer, he actively participates in multiple feasibility and detailed engineering studies while also carrying out various geotechnical programs, involving the characterization and interpretation of different types of materials. He has advanced knowledge in the use of numerical methods in geotechnical engineering, standing out in particular for his recent research on the use of the Material Point Method (MPM) to simulate the failure of a tailings dam due to flow liquefaction.
Erick graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (Lima, Peru) and holds a master's degree in geotechnical engineering from The University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada).
