John has an undergraduate degree in geological/geotechnical engineering and a master’s degree in civil engineering, with a specialization in soil mechanics and engineering seismology.
He has worked on various base-metal, precious-metal, coal, industrial mineral, liquefied natural gas, and civil infrastructure projects located in the Europe, Central Asia, South America, Africa, and North America.
His primary design areas include tailings and water dams, waste storage facilities, soil covers, foundations, and civil infrastructure. He also has notable experience in numerical modelling, permafrost engineering and construction monitoring. John has acted as the designer of record and as a engineer of record, he continues to complete dam safety reviews, and actively provides input and guidance for risk assessments, operation, maintenance and surveillance of dams and tailings facilities.
