Michael has over 25 years’ experience with projects in Canada, South Africa, Australia, Papua New Guinea, USA, China, and Turkey. He has been project manager for several multidisciplinary programs up to PFS level in remote and/or arctic conditions. His varied geological experience and instrumentation knowledge have been used to guide the planning and investigation of groundwater projects including tailings operations, tailings dam seepage, mine closure, environmental monitoring, contaminant hydrogeology, open pit and underground mine dewatering, pit slope stability and depressurisation, and rock mass characterization,.
Most of the work Michael is involved in is for either deep open pit (>600m) or underground projects
This paper highlights the usefulness of vibrating wire piezometers VWPs in understanding the flow regime within a heterogeneous tailings facility and the additional information they provide compared to standpipes.
Katso lisääThe success or failure of a mining project is often linked to site water management, or the lack of it.
Katso lisääIntegrating groundwater pressures into slope stability modelling is an evolving process in mine design.
