Somnath is a Mining Engineer with nearly 20 years of experience in the energy & natural resources domain. He has widely worked in mining & metals sector on business strategy, transformation, diversification, reengineering, corporate planning, performance improvement, operational excellence, cost optimization, bid process advisory, coal & hard rock ore body modelling, mine planning, feasibility studies, due-diligence, mine operation & production, drilling & blasting, waste dump management, quality control, capital budgeting, operating cost estimation, productivity studies.
He started his career with Vedanta Group in managing the operations of a large opencast lead & zinc mine in Rajasthan, India. Subsequently, he joined DMT Group and gained experience in technical consulting. Prior to joining SRK, Somnath has worked with KPMG in management consulting projects.
He is proficient in the use of a range of software packages including Deswik, Surpac, Minex, Whittle, NPVS, MineSched, Datamine, etc. This has allowed him to undertake several projects for coal, iron, limestone, gypsum, dolomite, copper, gold etc. and has taken him on assignments in more than 25 countries.
