I believe being with SRK gives me an opportunity to be innovative – more than I would be at another company. And I think to myself very often, if I don’t do it in the position I’m in at SRK, nobody else in the industry will. So if we need to bring innovation into the mining industry, SRK is in an excellent position, being independent and worldwide, to bring such innovative ideas into the industry.

"I started at SRK as a graduate after completing my Masters degree in 2012. I then became a Consultant and was subsequently promoted to a Senior Consultant in the Environmental and Social Team. Through these roles I have spent several months on an exploration site in the remote Namibian desert, conducted community consultations in Congo and Ethiopia and travelled to many other fascinating countries. I’ve been mentored by world leading experts and had the opportunity to work on some of the most interesting projects in the mining industry. The flat structure has meant I have been exposed to client meetings, could take a leading role in the management of projects and have been able to build my own network of connections in the industry. SRK is a unique organisation and the ‘SRK family’ culture is a big part of our success. I feel very lucky to have a job I love and to share an office with other equally passionate professionals."

I have worked in several companies in the field of engineering, with mining and energy projects, but none offers the opportunities that SRK offers its employees. Among them I emphasize the freedom of choice to direct their specialization, the possibility of participating in innovative projects, multidisciplinary, national and international, make exchanges abroad and be part of society, since the shares are sold to their employees.

Working with SRK has been an exciting experience, I am always exposed to new technical challenges that encourage me to develop my knowledge and critical thinking. The work environment and the mentors I have found promote thinking outside of the box towards solutions. Additionally, SRK promotes continuous professional development through courses, seminars, and conferences.

Aleksandra Petrovski

Graduate Draftsperson
Perth, Australia

"I moved to Perth five years ago after previously working as a production assistant for a clothing brand in Paris. I decided to change careers and do a drafting course at North Metropolitan Tafe. SRK has given me the opportunity to join its diverse and collaborative work environment and to learn a new software – Civil 3D. I work in a team with two other great draftspersons who take pride in their work and that keeps me challenged to constantly learn and to become better. What I like the most about it are the diverse projects and 3D modelling challenges we come across at times. The work culture and the people at SRK are the key reasons I enjoy working here."

Alex Watson

Principal Environmental Scientist
MSc, MAusIMM

"I chose to join SRK when I moved to Australia in 2008 because SRK has a reputation of being one of the best consulting companies in the world. It has proven to be a great decision – SRK has provided me with an opportunity to learn from some of the best people in the industry, both locally in Australia as well as those in our offices in other countries. I’ve had the opportunity to grow and have risen through the ranks, from consultant to my current role of principal consultant. I enjoy the variety of work and am constantly learning. In some cases, this has been in response to new technical challenges that come with each project – for example, we have developed a range of bespoke laboratory tests that satisfy specific regulatory requirements. I continue to master new skills and build on existing ones, which enables me to be involved in more diverse projects in the future and allows me to keep up to date with developments in the field. I have written papers documenting some of the innovative approaches we’ve developed in order to address our client’s needs and, with the support of my peers, presented the outcomes of our work at many levels, from small scale local meetings to national and international conferences."
