In addition, the winners of the Bright Spark Award will present their very interesting papers during the conference. This award is given by the Young Members Presidential Group (YMPG), the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and the organizing committee of the XVII Pan-American Congress of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (PANAMGEO 2024).
We proudly present Mauro Sottile, Principal Geotechnical Consultant, SRK Argentina, who has been awarded the International Bright Spark Lecture 2024 Award and will be presenting his study at the event.
His Bright Spark Keynote is entitled “A comparison of advanced Constitutive Models to Evaluate Flow Liquefaction of Upstream Raised Tailings Dams”. This research addresses recent failures in tailings storage facilities with upstream wall growth, which has led to higher standards in the mining industry for assessing tailings liquefaction risk. An outstanding achievement for the geotechnical community!
This technical talk will present a novel modeling process for cover systems, leveraging the analytical strengths of Hydrus-1D, the versatility of Python scripting, and the data management and analysis capabilities of Power BI.
Learn MoreThis paper evaluates the applicability of the observational method relied upon during the design-build process for the waste rock and heap leach facilities at the Bellavista Gold Mine.
Learn MoreThis technical talk will present an automated modeling tool enhanced to include topographic features, allowing for a more realistic representation of the heap leach facilities (HLFs) environment. This improvement simulates the interaction between leach pads and the landscape, which is essential for understanding how topography influences seepage flow.
