Webinar - Diamonds: Where, When, How... and Why?

Following the idea of 'all you ever wanted to know about diamonds', Lyn will discuss topics such as:

  • Where do they live? Potential geological settings and worldwide locations.
  • When did they form? Estimated timing of formation and transportation.
  • How did that happen? Geological processes involved.

And… why do we care? Between engagement rings and lithosphere studies, let’s hear some top secrets and understand why (almost) everyone, from industry and academia, is crazy about DIAMONDS!

Organised and first presented by GeoHUG.

Lynthener Takenaka, Consultant (Geology)

PhD (Geochemistry), DSc (Mineralogy and Petrology), MSc (Crustal Evolution and Natural Resources), BSc (Geological Engineering)

Lynthener (Lyn) has over 9 years of experience in geosciences, with an outstanding record of contribution and leadership in multidisciplinary projects related to the exploration of diamonds and magmatic ore deposits (e.g. gold, copper, nickel, platinum group elements), and geological mapping. She has extensive experience in geochronology, mineral and rock geochemistry, especially in setting up sampling campaigns and microanalytical runs, followed by data interpretation. Lynthener’s double PhD in Australia and Brazil, revealed the origin and composition of the lithospheric mantle in a very complex geological setting. She combined a large range of techniques such as geochronology, geophysics, geochemistry, statistics, and programming to solve an historical diamond exploration enigma, while also proposing new geological concepts and methods for the topic. While working as a researcher, Lynthener’s interests focused on applying scientific concepts to effectively solve government and industry challenges.
