WISA Biennial Conference 2022 | Navigating the Course

Many storms affecting our water sector are looming, or have grown. As a water sector, we find ourselves off-course when measured by the lived experience of the residents of Southern Africa and the economic activities that support them.

The WISA event is a great learning and networking platform for sharing and listening to new developments in science, technology, policy or implementation at technical sessions and workshops.

South Africa has committed to the achievement of the 17 SDGs by 2030. SDG 6 aims to ensure clean water and sanitation for all by 2030. At a global level, specialists in various international agencies developed methodologies for all the SDG targets and their indicators. The eight targets for SDG 6 include safe and affordable drinking water; provision of access to sanitation and hygiene; improve water quality, wastewater treatment, and safe reuse; increasing water efficiency and ensuring freshwater supplies; implementing Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) and to protect water-related ecosystems.
