Arlene enhances the services offered by SRK’s Yellowknife office with her broad experience in mining, exploration and environmental management. For the past 15 years, she has focused on the environmental management of projects
from exploration to post-closure. Much of this work has involved providing environmental support for the engineering, construction, and closure of mines in the arctic. Arlene’s earlier experience includes mine geology; resource
and reserve evaluation; mine planning and environmental monitoring at an underground copper nickel mine and an open pit heap leach gold mine; and gold, base metal, and diamond exploration.
From 2002 to 2008, Arlene managed the remediation programs at the Polaris (75° N) and Nanisivik (73° N) mine sites during their closure and post-closure phases. In 2011, the Nanisivik mine owners engaged Arlene to oversee the demolition
and reclamation of the remaining infrastructure at the Nanisivik dock site.
SRK’s clients benefit from Arlene’s in-depth knowledge of the physical, regulatory, and social environment of the Canadian north when undertaking environmental studies, applying for operating permits, conducting due diligence
reviews, and preparing NI 43-101 Technical Reports.
