The idea of innovation through discovery has always been central to our culture at SRK. In alignment with this enduring value, we announce Tracey Drew and Ray Mayne will take on leadership roles within our global Innovation Community of Practice (ICP).
“These appointments reflect our Global Practice Leaderships’ commitment to continue building on the spirit of innovation through discovery within our organization,” says Tim McGurk, Group CEO of SRK Global.
Since 2018, Tracey and Ray (both originally from SRK South Africa, now SRK Australia) have played pivotal roles in SRK’s innovation journey, notably in developing and facilitating various innovation-themed workshops and processes. Recognizing the growing momentum of these initiatives, SRK decided to more formally support the ICP by appointing Tracey as Program Principal (Innovation) and Ray as Lead Facilitator (Innovation). In these roles, they will guide the strategic direction of the ICP, foster innovative initiatives and culture, and bring together innovators across the company to share knowledge, get help, and push technical boundaries in support of business and industry growth.
“When employees feel supported, they become more productive,” says Tracey. “They solve more problems in better ways, which is a competitive advantage.” She acknowledges that innovation is often seen as a creative endeavor but believes there is more to it than that. “Though not all ideas succeed, discovery leads to innovation which leads to greater creativity and job satisfaction,” Tracey says.
SRK is celebrating its 50th anniversary and chose “Innovation in Focus” as the theme for this milestone year in its history. In September, the company held its bi-annual global leadership meetings in Cardiff, United Kingdom, including its second global innovation workshop.
“We’ve seen phenomenal growth through these workshops but recognize it is just a small part of innovation,” says Ray. “The big part is sharing the ideas globally to help clients solve problems at a time when their projects are becoming increasingly complex. Because SRK is a global company, with offices all over the world, we can do that.”
