It is with pleasure that SRK Consulting (U.S.) announces the addition of Dr. Mark Thomasson to our Tucson office as a principal consultant in hydrogeology. With more than 15 years of experience as an academic and industrial hydrogeologist, Mark brings valuable knowledge and expertise to SRK.

Specializing in hydrogeological characterization of open pit mines, Mark has a wealth of experience in the design and implementation of depressurization and dewatering and groundwater management systems. Combining both the theory and application of 3D digital groundwater flow models, he has developed and implemented mathematical models to better characterize hydrogeological systems and mining applications. Mark is also experienced in pit dewatering analysis, tailings management, and groundwater development and management. His project experience spans the globe, from the western and southwestern USA and South America to Indonesia.

After earning his doctorate in hydrogeology in 2000, Mark held academic positions at the universities of Arizona and North Carolina. He has taught in the field of hydrogeology since 2002 and is an adjunct faculty member of the University of Arizona’s Department of Hydrology and Water Resources. Mark has also worked as a principal hydrogeologist for Schlumberger Water Services and Montgomery & Associates, both located in Tucson.

Mark is a certified Surface Miner trainer for the Mine Safety and Health Administration and is a member of the American Geophysical Union, Soil Science Society of America, and Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration.

SRK’s Tucson office welcomes Mark to their team.
