Five professional engineers and scientists have achieved the status of partner at SRK Consulting, which this year celebrates half a century in business.
Noting that over the last 50 years, the company has remained focused on its innovative business model of employee ownership, SRK Consulting (SA) MD Andrew van Zyl said that the company has embarked on a deliberate process to create an environment that is conducive to the success of all of its staff, aiming to better recognise and market their skills to clients.
This commitment is evident in the diverse expertise of the newly appointed partners.
Principal engineering geologist Lyzandra Boshoff has spent 20 years in geotechnical engineering, tailings design, engineering geology, foundation investigations, mining geotechnical characterisation and mineral processing.
Philippa Burmeister, a principal environmental scientist at the company, has over two decades of experience in integrated environmental management, specialising in sustainability assessment using various environmental management tools. More recently, Burmeister has focused on air quality and climate change, advising clients on innovative strategies for adapting to climate change risks and optimising their resource efficiency.
SRK Consulting human resources manager Monique du Toit has been with the company since 2009 and has 20 years of experience in her field. Du Toit has been instrumental in overseeing the people strategy at SRK South Africa, including employee engagement and well-being, compliance, employee relations, mediation policy development, process improvement and strategic alignment with SRK Global.
Andrew Robertshaw is a principal civil engineer and has over 35 years of experience in the fields of civil engineering and water. His work has covered mine residue deposition, hydrology, water supply, water treatment and water resources management.
Tiaan Claassen is a principal engineer technologist at SRK Consulting and has been engaged in the field for more than 20 years. His expertise includes project management, roads and stormwater design, solid waste management and disposal, infrastructure assessments and site supervision, administration and quality management.
