SRK Australia is pleased to announce the addition of Kate Vershinina as the new Principal Consultant to its expanding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) team. Mrs Vershinina’s appointment marks another significant stride in SRK’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its ESG services.
Kate brings a wealth of experience in leading and executing projects across the mining sector. She is proficient at managing mining project tasks from baseline studies, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and Environmental Management Systems (EMSs) through to mine closure. This experience uniquely positions her as a pivotal figure in addressing complex ESG mining issues.
We're excited to welcome Kate to our team,’ commented Danielle Kyan, head of ESG and Mine Closure at SRK Australia. While the integration of social and environmental management into our clients’ projects has long been a core part of SRK’s service offering, Kate’s appointment is a testament to our continual focus on SRK’s ESG capabilities both locally and globally.
Kate has over 20 years of international experience in the practical implementation of ESG management tools and has several credentials, including a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Environmental Management; she is also a Certified Environmental Practitioner (EIANZ, Australia) and AusIMM member.
Carl Murray, Managing Director of SRK Australasia, says he is pleased to welcome Kate back to SRK.
Kate has been the environmental head of department at SRK in previous years and has worked in many operational roles, giving her holistic experience across operations and consultancy. I believe her appointment builds on SRK's strong global reputation as a leader in sustainable practices," he said.
Kate expressed her eagerness to use her expertise to bring value to investors and communities involved in mining in Australia.
The current global trend towards sustainable mining is exciting, and Australia, with its rich reserves of critical minerals, presents a wealth of opportunities. I am committed to guiding our clients on their journey towards decarbonisation, working on their social licence to operate, assisting them in their compliance with increasing regulatory and reporting requirements and other future challenges sure to come," she stated.
SRK recognises the importance of ESG across many aspects of projects in the Mineral Resource industry and actively threads ESG considerations into its service offerings throughout a project’s life. The group makes sure to stay on top of compliance, working closely with industry and government to continue state-of-the-art practices that meet today’s rigorous standards.
