SRK Consulting, an independent, global company providing services to the mining and water resource industries, started in 1974 in Johannesburg, South Africa. It has since grown into an international company with more than 1,600 employees, 30,000+ projects and 40+ offices around the world.

This year, one of SRK’s longest standing practices – SRK Australia – celebrates a significant 25-year merger milestone. SRK Australia was established in Perth in 1994 and soon merged with the geoscience consultancy Etheridge Henley Williams (EHW) in 1997, adding the Brisbane office.

The SRK Australia team wanted to commemorate this important merger in its 25th year in 2022 but the celebration was delayed due to the impact of COVID-19.

Principal Mining Engineer, Scott McEwing, who has been with the company for over 20 years joined the mining team in Perth, and worked on the first two major feasibility projects that provided a key foundation for the practice’s future growth.

It was an interesting time for SRK in the early 2000s and I found myself working on challenging and engaging projects. One project that stands out was a study on a narrow vein underground gold mine named Raleigh in Western Australia – a project we are still engaged with today" McEwing said.

Managing Director of SRK Consulting (Australasia), Carl Murray, who upon reflecting on the organisation’s journey so far, believes SRK’s ongoing success is a result of employing good technical people and trusting them to develop the business and exceed client expectations.

SRK Australia will continue to invest the time and energy into our people, helping them reach their full potential by working on a wide range of projects presented by the global mining industry. This path of supporting continuous learning and innovation ensures that SRK’s clients are receiving results from an industry-leading consultancy", Carl said.
