SRK Consulting welcomes back the familiar face of Steve Boyce, an engineering and environmental permitting expert who worked at SRK’s Elko office from 2000 to 2008. With 28 years of local and international mining experience focused on environmental permitting and mine development, operations, and closure, Steve has extensive knowledge to share, once again, with SRK Elko.
After leaving SRK in 2008, Steve worked for Knight Piésold and Co., General Moly, Inc., and, most recently, Barrick Gold. During this time, he made key contributions to permitting and creating an environmental framework for the world-class Mount Hope molybdenum mine, producing a feasibility study and designing a carbon in column processing plant and leach pad for the South Arturo gold deposit, and designing and constructing the closure approach for the Wood Gulch gold mine heap lead pad.
Steve also served as the process plant engineering superintendent for the Arturo heap leach project and the process division technical services superintendent for the Goldstrike property. In his operational and consulting roles, Steve has managed many multidisciplinary teams for projects such as exploration and mining evaluation, risk assessment and management, environmental compliance program development, engineering and process plant improvements, and mine closure and reclamation planning and cost estimation.
“Steve’s specializations and considerable experience will add even more depth and breadth to the environmental permitting and compliance services that we offer our clients,” said Val Sawyer, a principal environmental consultant with SRK U.S. “We look forward to capitalizing on his strong leadership skills and drive to deliver results.”
