It is with pleasure that SRK announces the addition of Shlomo Orr to our Vancouver office. Shlomo has 30 years of consulting, research, and project management experience in modeling complex subsurface flow and transport phenomena.

Building on his PhD in hydrology and water resources, Shlomo has developed expertise in a wide range of modeling tools. He has worked on ground-breaking innovations such as the development of stochastic models to account for uncertainty and reduce risk as well as the adaptation of intelligent systems tools for decision making and optimization of complex natural and industrial processes, including groundwater and oil fields.

Shlomo’s work has taken him to numerous sites across North America and countries in South America, Africa, and the Middle East. His recent experience includes combining traditional modeling of subsurface flow, transport, and heat (solving the corresponding partial differential equations) with artificial intelligence tools. He is currently applying these modeling techniques to predict and optimize the monitoring of subsurface freezing at Canada’s Giant Mine.

During his career, Shlomo has shared his expertise by teaching graduate courses in groundwater hydrology and geostatistics; reviewing two books and numerous publications in advanced journals; coauthoring 16 publications; and giving presentations at various conferences, including a keynote talk at a conference for the US National Institute of Standards and Technology.
