SRK Consulting carried out a site-wide dynamic water balance (DWB) study for the Borborema Gold Project, located in the Seridó area of Borborema Province in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, northeastern Brazil.
This project is being developed by Big River Gold and its Brazilian subsidiary Cascar do Brasil Mineração.
The DWB model prepared as part of the study reflects an integrated approach that included interactions between all reservoirs within the client’s property. Several scenarios were evaluated – the potential inclusion of sewage water, measures to reduce evaporation, consideration of a larger reservoir and earlier decommissioning of an existing dam.
The DWB study has established water management plans for the Project that indicate minimal additional external water will be required to support a 2 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) operation.
The findings of SRK’s study provides process security and support for higher production rates at the Borborema Gold Project and the study was recently published in the Big River Gold ASX Release.
