The client currently operates three bauxite mining areas in Australia, and the audit was focused on two of these.
The deposit is a lateritic bauxite occurring within extensive laterite cappings that mantle the peneplained land surface.
Two bauxite sales products are produced from the mine based on their monohydrate bauxite mineral content.
The client’s Resource and Reserve (R&R) internal audit program aims to assess the processes that underpin the its R&R estimates to ensure they are adequate, effective and meet the requirements of the internal standard governing R&R estimation and R&R reporting in compliance with the JORC Code (2012).
The scope of this internal audit was to technically assess the critical controls that help ensure the processes, systems and competencies that underpin the preparation and reporting of the R&R estimates are adequate and effective and thus provide assurance over the reporting.
