Tailings Storage Facility Embankment Raise Detailed Design Study for the Gruyere Gold Mine
SRK Consulting, the Engineer of Record for the existing tailings storage facility (TSF) at the Gruyere Gold Mine, was appointed by Gold Fields in Australia to undertake the TSF’s Stage 3 embankment raise design and provide engineering support and quality control during the construction.
To inform the raise construction, SRK produced the design followed by a scope of work and technical specification.
SRK investigated opportunities to optimise the design of the embankment. This assessment resulted in reduced construction costs and improved operational flexibility without compromising the integrity and performance of the embankment.
The study also included a focused geotechnical investigation to help characterise the TSF foundations and embankment construction materials by considering the current and ongoing changes in site conditions.
