Engineer of Record for the Gruyere Joint Venture Gold Mine
SRK Consulting is the appointed Engineer of Record (EoR) for the existing tailings storage facility (TSF) at the Gruyere Gold Mine.
The mine, located within the Yamarna Greenstone Belt in Western Australia’s northeastern Goldfields hosts an open pit, ore processing facility and a TSF designed to store approximately 10 million tonnes per annum. The TSF embankment is progressively raised downstream over 6 Stages using material produced by the nearby open pit.
In addition to the operational support, the EoR completed numerous investigations and projects including a geotechnical and laboratory testing program to inform the stability of the embankment.
SRK has also been assisting Gruyere Gold Mine to work towards compliance against the recently implemented Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management, a requirement of all members affiliated with the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM).
SRK is undertaking the construction quality control for the ongoing embankment raises where SRK also completed the associated designs and geotechnical investigations. A tailings dam breach assessment (TDBA) and dam failure consequence category classification were fulfilled as part of the Stage 3 embankment raise to inform the TSF risk profile and associated design criteria.
