Giant Mine Closure and Arsenic Remediation

SRK assisted with remediating the Giant Mine property, located just outside Yellowknife in Canada's Northwest Territories.
Notable technical challenges include 237,000 tonnes of arsenic trioxide dust stored underground. We completed full-scale testing of an innovative technology to permanently freeze the underground storage areas. We also assisted stakeholders in developing, assessing, and reaching agreement on surface remediation plans.
