Rock Mechanics and Engineering Study for Malmberget Iron Ore Mine
A mining and geotechnical engineering concept study investigated the transition from sublevel caving (SLC) to alternative caving methods for one orebody. SRK conducted a detailed rock mechanics and engineering assessment into the technical, mining, economic, and risk profile elements to help LKAB make an informed decision to change its mining method, incorporating an ore field production plan into the study, considering cavability, fragmentation, undercutting options, technical and economic risk, and impact to Malmberget.
