Project Description

Cerro Vanguardia is an Au-Ag mine that its operation consists of a series of longitudinal pits and underground operations following a gold vein, in the Argentinean province of Santa Cruz. A single tailings storage facility (TSF) is currently under operation.

SRK Argentina was involved in the conceptual, feasibility and detailed design for current and future raise of the TSF, including the development of a tailing deposition plan and a construction procedure that allows ongoing production to be deposited into the TSF while the embankment raise was undertaken.

SRK is currently carrying out the quality assurance of the embankment raise.

Since 2021, SRK has been providing engineer of record (EOR) services to ensure proper facility management in accordance with the latest best international practice guidelines.

As part of this work, SRK provides continuous operational support and has been involved in the development of risk assessments for the TSF, meetings with corporate and independent reviewers, and supporting to the tailings deposition plan, among others.

In 2021 – 2022, SRK has undertaken the geochemical assessment of the open pits, waste rock dumps and heap leach pad following the best international practices.
