SRK made a major contribution to FIJV’s Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) for the Yogi magnetite project, including the major earth sciences from resource exploration through to life of mine production scheduling and mining cost estimation.
The Yogi magnetite project is located in the Yalgoo region of Western Australia. The BFS defined a large economic open pit for the project that would be developed in several stages over a 16-year mine life. SRK’s contribution to the BFS was integrated with and supported by other study components being developed in parallel by other parties. Key activities undertaken by SRK included:
· Mineral Resource exploration
· Mineral Resource estimation
· Geotechnical pit slope design
· Geotechnical waste rock dump (WRD) design
· Open pit optimisation
· Open pit design
· WRD design
· Life of mine production scheduling
· Drill and blast design
· Mine equipment estimation
· Mining cost estimation
· Dry stack tailings storage facility design
· Geochemical characterisation
· Potentially acid-forming materials management
· Site-wide water balance
· Surface water management
· Open-pit dewatering
· Asbestiform minerals characterisation.
The Yogi BFS commenced in November 2020, with SRK’s study components completed by November 2021.
