UPL OpenAg is in a process of applying for an Environmental Authorisation for the proposed dangerous goods storage warehouse, i.e. for the storage of a classified dangerous good (total capacity currently estimated at 1000 m3) and for the storage of a non-classified dangerous good (total capacity of 400 m3), in a Sterkfontein existing Warehouse in Olifantsfontein, Gauteng Province.
The National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 (NEMA), and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, 2014 (promulgated in terms of NEMA) warrant that listed activities require Environmental Authorisation (EA) from GDARD. A Scoping and EIA process is required to support an application for an EA.
SRK Consulting (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd (SRK) has been appointed by UPL OpenAg as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP), to undertake the S&EIA process required in terms of the NEMA and the EIA Regulations, 2014.
