ARPA-E Ventilation Air Methane (VAM) Mitigation

The ARPA-E REMEDY program seeks to develop technologies that reduce methane emissions from three sources in the oil, gas, and coal value chain. The goal is to reverse the rate of accumulation of methane in the atmosphere, decrease atmospheric methane concentration, and thus ameliorate climate change.

This kickoff meeting allowed participants the opportunity to introduce their projects and discuss progress and advances in technologies across the ARPA-E Remedy portfolio, identify key technical challenges, propose potential solutions, network with stakeholders, and share experiences from the field. SRK is engaged with Precision Combustion, Inc. on a subcontract to develop new VAM (Ventilation Air Methane) technology to help mitigate methane emissions from coal mine sources. Improvement of air quality and the reduction of greenhouse gases is a central goal of SRK’s Mine Ventilation Services for all its clients. We are excited to be part of advancing these new solutions, with Precision Combustion, Inc.

Jon Fox was invited to sit on the VAM program panel at the kickoff meeting. This program represents the beginning of renewed commitment by the Department of Energy to help improve our planet’s future, allowing every global citizen the benefit of easy breathing in the future.
