Mine electrification is trending with advancements in battery technologies and electric equipment. The replacement of diesel mobile equipment underground is a boon for ventilation, but it’s no silver bullet. Removing diesel exhaust from underground operations negates the dominant design criterion (diesel particulate matter) but temperature, dust, and air velocity criteria remain. This presentation provides a brief introduction to managing the ventilation considerations of designing a mine using battery-electric equipment.
