Water Use Strategy for Mining and Industry in the Middle East

The scarcity of water in arid and hyper-arid regions of the world can pose considerable challenges for countries that have growing populations and ambitions to develop thriving mining and industrial sectors which are critically dependent on the ready supply of this commodity. There are several examples of countries in the Middle East that fall into this category with low rainfall, heavily utilised aquifers, rapidly growing urban populations, and aspirations to grow GDP on the back of their mineral wealth.
