Amy Prestia

Amy specializes in the geochemistry of the environment as it pertains to geologic interpretation, mine waste characterization, and prediction of acid generation potential. Amy’s areas of expertise includes field and laboratory based analytical geochemistry, the geochemical characterization of mine waste, water, and soils, and the application of geochemical modeling to mining environments. She has particular experience in the development of waste rock management plans designed to address acid rock drainage and metal leaching from mine waste. Amy also provides technical input to soil and water baseline studies and mine closure planning.

Over the past 16 years, Amy has been involved in various aspects of mine waste characterization programs, from sampling and supervision to test evaluation and interpretation. Her project experience includes permitting, site characterization and assessment, development and implementation of laboratory testing programs, and evaluation of final closure options for several mining operations in Nevada, Idaho, California, and Oregon. Amy also provides technical support and coordination of characterization, mitigation, and remediation projects concerned with the contamination of water and soil systems.

She is proficient in the collection of groundwater, surface water, and soil samples, and is experienced with coordinating and conducting investigative events utilizing geoprobe, diamond core, reverse circulation, rotosonic, and dual rotary drilling techniques. She also has experience supervising monitoring well installations and abandonment.
