SRK Consulting (South Africa) Pty Ltd (SRK), in association with Angolan-registered consultancy Grupo Simples (GSO), were appointed by Societe Francaise D'Equipement Hospitalier (SFEH) (French Society of Hospital Equipment) as the independent environmental assessment practitioner (EAP) to manage and facilitate the compilation of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the construction and operation of a National Ophthalmology Centre (referred to as “the Project”) in Kilamba Centrality, south of the City of Luanda, Angola.
The ESIA was conducted in accordance with the Angolan Ministry of Environments Presidential Decree No. 278/22, and its subsidiary legislation managed by the National Directorate for the Prevention and Assessment of Environmental Impacts. This ESIA has also been developed to meet the requirements of other relevant Angolan legislation and good international industry practice (GIIP). The Project has been registered with the Ministério do Ambiente (MINAMB) (Protocol No. 18524917237) and is categorised as a Category B project.
The Project is located in a the Kilamba Kiaxi Centrality (also referred to as Kilamba Centrality) situated about 18 km south of the capital city of Angola, Luanda. It falls within the municipality of Belas in the province of Luanda.
The ESIA draft report has been submitted to the client and is currently under review. Relevant stakeholders will be provided with feedback regarding the findings contained in the draft ESIA report. A copy of the draft ESIA report and non-technical summary can be downloaded via the link below.
